The website shelf
Use your shelf at galshelf.com without the desktop app: add works, record status and scores, check the release calendar and character birthdays, and link Steam.

On this page
The website keeps a shelf in your GalShelf account. It doesn't need the desktop app to be installed or running, and it doesn't need QQ.
Open galshelf.com and sign in with a GalShelf username and password, or with NextMoe. Both lead to the same kind of account; see Accounts.
Your shelf#
My shelf lists the works in your account, grouped by status. Use the filter buttons (All, Want to play, Playing, Played, On hold, Dropped) to narrow the list. Open a work to edit:
- Status.
- Score from 0 to 10, or empty for "not rated". The website editor moves in steps of 0.5; the desktop app allows steps of 0.1. An empty score is not the same as 0 (see Status and dango rating).
- Finished, kept separately from the Played status.
- Notes, up to 20,000 characters.
Edits, additions and removals go through library sync: each change is kept in this browser until the site confirms it, so a lost connection or a reload doesn't lose it. If the same field was changed somewhere else in the meantime, a dialog shows both values and you choose what to keep; the other value is never overwritten silently. Removed works can be restored by adding them again within 180 days.
Add works#
Add works searches the VNDB or NextMoe catalogue. Choose the status the work should start with and add it. No files are involved: this is a catalogue entry in your account.
Release calendar#
- Desktop appNot applicable
- WebsiteAvailable
The Release calendar tab has two scopes:
- 我的书架 / My shelf arranges the works on your shelf by the release date recorded on them. A date known to the day goes on that day; a date known only to the month is listed under 日期未公布 / Day not announced yet for that month; dates known only to the year, a quarter or not at all belong to no month and are only counted. These are your own records, not verified release records.
- 全部日文发行(VNDB) / All Japanese releases (VNDB) lists VNDB release records with the same filter as the desktop calendar: Japanese original works whose release record lists Japanese text, without patches, trials, unofficial releases or non-games. Month-only releases go under Day not announced yet, never on an invented day, and year-only or undated releases belong to no month. Each release shows its sources (VNDB, Steam and HIKARI FIELD when a VNDB record proves the store edition), works on your shelf are marked 在书架上 / On your shelf, and 筛选说明 / About the filter lists what was left out and why.
The website reads VNDB for you and checks a month again at most once every 24 hours; 重新读取 / Reload asks the website, not VNDB. The calendar has no NextMoe announcements, followed companies, subscriptions, gold marks or birthdays; the desktop calendar has more (see Release calendar).

- The desktop app saves months in its data folder; the website saves only public-scope months, in your browser.
Months of the All Japanese releases scope are saved in this browser, so you can open them again offline, labelled with when VNDB was read. Only public release data is saved, never your shelf: My shelf months and the On your shelf marks are read only while online and are never stored. A saved month is kept until the end of that month; past months are kept as history and removed first when space runs out. 清除本浏览器的日历缓存 / Clear this browser's calendar cache removes them. Private windows, blocked site data or a full browser storage mean nothing new is saved; the page says so, and an earlier saved copy is never replaced by a failed or incomplete read.
Characters & birthdays#
- Desktop appAvailable in 0.2.8

- No galbd link needed. With galbd linked, the desktop app also shows the current QQ group's birthday pushes.
The 角色与生日 / Characters & birthdays tab shows the birthdays of characters from the works on your shelf that have a VNDB ID: today (by your browser's date), the next 30 days and a month view with portraits. It also lists your shelf's characters, which you can filter by known or unknown birthday, and searches characters across VNDB by name. Opening a character shows its works and a link to its VNDB page. Birthdays and portraits come from VNDB; an unknown birthday stays unknown, and a 29 February birthday is shown on 28 February in common years, with a note. Characters are read from VNDB in small batches, so on a large shelf the list can take a while to fill in. No QQ or galbd link is needed; QQ group birthday pushes stay in the QQ group web app.
Steam#
The Steam tab links a Steam account to your GalShelf account and reads your Steam library on the website. See Steam.
Shelf from the desktop app#
In the desktop app's new interface, turn on Library sync for the same account (Settings → Accounts & Sync); changes then flow both ways. The classic interface's Upload this computer's shelf to this account is merged field by field and never overwrites what you changed on the website. See Sync.
The QQ group web app#
/app is a separate web app for galbd QQ group members: you enter it with a QQ group number and your QQ number, and it edits your own records in galbd. It is not the same as your GalShelf account shelf. See galbd / AstrBot.
Language#
Use the 中 / EN switch in the page header to change the website language. Your choice is stored in the galshelf_lang cookie and applies to the whole site; links such as ?lang=en set it too.
