Link Steam#

Linking uses Steam's own sign-in page; GalShelf never asks for your Steam password.
- On the website: open the Steam tab of your shelf and choose Link Steam. You only need to be signed in to GalShelf; QQ and the desktop app are not needed.
- In the desktop app: in settings choose to connect Steam. The app shows a connect code (
XXXX-XXXX, valid for 10 minutes); enter it on the page the app opens, then sign in on Steam. Return to the app, which finishes the link automatically.
GalShelf checks Steam's signed answer and rejects replayed or expired sign-ins. The link lasts 30 days and only lets GalShelf read your own library. Links are stored encrypted.
Privacy settings#
Signing in proves who you are; it doesn't make your data readable. To read your library and playtime, your Steam profile and your game details must be public in Steam's privacy settings. If they aren't, GalShelf tells you instead of showing an empty library.
Library and playtime#
GalShelf reads your owned games (including free games you have played) and Steam's playtime through a Steam key that exists only on the server. Results are cached for 10 minutes and there is a daily request budget, so repeated refreshes may be delayed.
Steam's total playtime is kept as its own value. It is shown for Steam works but never added to GalShelf's own session timer, and it never becomes story progress.
Import Steam games#

A Steam game is imported only when VNDB has an exact mapping from its Steam app ID to a release, and you confirm the import. See Library and import for the local scan and your own API key.
Unlink#
Unlink Steam in the same place you linked it. On the desktop this removes the stored link from this computer.
