How similar works are chosen#

A work's details page lists up to 12 similar works, using only public VNDB information that is actually present for both works. Each suggestion shows its reason and the evidence behind it. When a work has no VNDB ID or VNDB has no usable data, the list says so instead of guessing; when VNDB is unreachable or rate-limited, it says the source is unavailable.

In 0.2.5 the signals are VNDB relations (sequels, prequels, side stories), shared creative staff, the developer and tags weighted by category and by the lower of the two works' tag ratings.

The improved recommendations#

The new scorer, used by both interfaces, weighs:

• Relations and franchise: official VNDB links between works.
• Creative staff: scenario writers, directors, character designers, artists, composers; translators and editors never count.
• Developer.
• Distinctive themes: tags that are rare count more than broad ones.
• Length, only as a supporting signal.
• Optionally your ratings and play status (see Privacy).

It doesn't compare description texts. To keep the list varied, at most 3 works come from one franchise and 4 from one developer; further ones are grouped under "More from the same series or developer". Other editions of the same work appear as one entry, works you marked Dropped (弃坑) are left out, and spoiler themes stay hidden until you choose 显示剧透题材 / Show spoiler themes. Missing information counts as unknown, never as a negative signal.

When the work itself has no VNDB data, the list falls back to works already on your shelf with the same series, developer or shelf labels.

Feedback#

In the new interface each suggestion has a menu:

• 想看更多类似的 / More like this
• 不感兴趣 / Not interested
• 不再显示这部作品 / Hide this work
• 已经玩过 / Already played (doesn't add the work to your shelf)

Every choice can be undone (撤销 / Undo), and 管理推荐反馈 / Manage feedback lists what you chose. The classic interface uses the new scorer but has no feedback menu. GalShelf doesn't show invented precision percentages or explanations the scoring can't back up.

Privacy#

参考我的评分与游玩状态 / Use my ratings and play status (recommendations.use_history, on by default, stored on this device) lets suggestions consider your own ratings and status. Your feedback is stored locally for your account and is never synchronised or sent anywhere.
