Interface profiles and personalisation

GalShelf is meant to feel like your own shelf. Personalisation is a core feature, not decoration. Since 0.2.6 the desktop app uses only the new interface, with the two profiles, the background editor and the OP section described below; passages marked “classic interface” describe 0.2.5 and earlier.

Themes and wording#

• Classic interface: three themes, 银羽来信 (paper), 星夜物语 (night) and 樱花来信 (sakura); an accent colour, text contrast (automatic, dark or light), the illustration on or off and a name for your space (1–40 characters). Copy styles change the wording of headings: Basic, Style 1 (default) and two styles you can edit.
• New interface: 纸页 / Paper, 夜间 / Night and 樱色 / Sakura.

Profiles A and B#

The new interface has two presentation profiles over the same data and logic:

• A · 经典氛围（默认） / A · Classic atmosphere (default): the full-shell atmosphere with the familiar logo, bookmark and dango presentation.
• B · 整合版式 / B · Integrated layout: a more integrated layout built from the same components; the wallpaper appears only in the page header.

New installations start with A. Choose the profile in Settings → 外观与配置 / Appearance & Profiles → 界面配置 / Interface profile; the choice is stored on this device. 预览 / Preview tries a profile without saving it, then choose 保留此配置 / Keep this profile or go back to the previous one. Choosing a profile in the first step of the welcome tour applies it straight away. Your library and settings are the same in both profiles.

Backgrounds#

In the new interface, Settings → Appearance & Profiles has a background editor:

• Files: PNG, JPEG, WebP, animated GIF, MP4 and WebM, up to 60 MB for images, 120 MB for GIFs and 4 GB for videos. The type is checked from the file's content, not its name. GalShelf copies the file into its data folder (media\objects), so moving or deleting the original afterwards doesn't matter.
• Buttons: choose an image, GIF or video (desktop), upload from this device, use the default wallpaper, or use no background.
• Fit: 铺满 / Fill or 完整显示 / Show whole picture.
• 界面材质 / Surface material behind panels: follow the profile, glass, frosted or opaque paper.
• Opacity 0–100% (default 100%), Blur 0–40 px and 压暗 / Darken 0–90%.
• Focal point (the part that stays visible when the window shape changes): click the preview, use the arrow keys (Shift moves in larger steps) or the horizontal and vertical sliders.
• Only for the current profile: gives the current profile its own background without changing your shared choice.
• 恢复默认背景 / Reset background clears the shared choice and every per-profile override.

If a background file is missing or damaged, GalShelf falls back to the default wallpaper automatically and shows one warning; the media list marks the item "File missing" and it can't be selected until you add it again.

Classic interface backgrounds#

The classic interface accepts a PNG, JPG or WebP image of up to 12 MB (no animation), scales it to fit 3840×2160 and stores it as a JPEG. Its opacity slider goes from 0 to 0.6 (default 0.14), and the image can cover the window or fit inside it. On the website's QQ group app, a custom background is kept in that browser only.

Animation, video and sound#

• Background videos are always muted; a background never plays sound.
• 媒体与下载 / Media & Downloads → 动态背景 / Animated backgrounds (media.animate):
  • Automatic (default): animation pauses while the window is hidden, while a game is running and when reduced motion is on.
  • Always play: keeps playing (still paused while the window is hidden), even with reduced motion.
  • Still poster only: shows a still frame. GIFs get a poster automatically; for a video, use "Use the current frame as the still poster".
• Pause backgrounds and OP playback when a game starts (media.pause_on_launch) is on by default.
• One media controller handles all playback, so no hidden players keep running after you switch pages or profiles.

OP, ED, PV and trailers#

A work's OP 与影像 / OP & video tab holds a section OP、PV 与预告片 / OP, PV and trailers with the types OP, ED, PV, Trailer and Other. Media come only from you:

• Add a local video… from your computer.
• Add a link: an HTTPS page or video address, with an optional title, source name and source page. The source line shows "Source: …", or "Source not stated" when you didn't give one.
• Download to this device: for direct HTTPS media files only, with progress, Cancel download and Retry. A web page is not a download: it gets Open in browser instead. Sources that answer "access denied" are refused, because GalShelf never bypasses access controls, and redirects to non-HTTPS addresses are stopped.
• Files that are really archives or programs disguised as a video are rejected ("This is not a video…"); they are never played, extracted or run.
• Sound plays only in an OP/PV player you start yourself, only one player is audible at a time, and Default OP/PV volume is 80%.

Removing a link keeps any downloaded file; media storage in Settings shows how many files and how much space they use.

Motion#

The classic interface follows the Windows "show animations" setting (the system's reduced-motion preference): animations such as the dango jump stop. The new interface adds 语言与辅助功能 / Language & Accessibility → 动态效果 / Motion (ui.motion): 跟随系统 / Follow system, 减少动态 / Reduce motion or 完整动态 / Full motion. With reduced motion and the Automatic background setting, animated backgrounds show their still poster.

If something goes wrong#

• Text hard to read? Raise Darken, lower the opacity or choose another surface material.
• Background missing or broken? It has already fallen back to the default wallpaper; choose another file or use Reset background.
