What packs are#
The base download stays small. Optional material such as extra artwork, wallpapers, media, share-card assets or local models can be added as resource packs (.gspack files). Both interface profiles work without any pack; when optional material is missing, the built-in look is used and Settings says so.
The first example is B 配置页头插画 / Profile B header art, made from artwork already in GalShelf. When it is installed and you use the default wallpaper, profile B shows it in the page header; otherwise the built-in art is used ("Extra header art for profile B is not installed; built-in art is used."). No pack is bundled with the app.
Where to manage packs#
Settings → 媒体与下载 / Media & Downloads → 可选资源包 / Optional resource packs lists every installed pack with its type, version, size, source, licence and signature state, and the previous working version if there is one.
What a pack declares#
Each pack has a manifest (format galshelf-pack/1) with its ID, type (wallpaper, media, share-card, theme assets or model), version, the GalShelf versions it works with, the packs it depends on, what it provides, every file's size and SHA-256, the total size, its source and licence, optional signing information and, for model packs, the runtime it needs.
Install and verify#
- Choose 从文件安装资源包… / Install a pack from a file… (desktop app) and pick a
.gspackfile. Nothing is downloaded from the internet. - The pack is copied to a staging area and checked: every file must be declared and match its size and SHA-256; unsafe paths, links, programs and scripts (including
.js,.htmland.svg) are refused. Limits are 2,000 files, 2 GB per file and 8 GB in total. - Only a fully valid pack is activated, in one step, into
%LOCALAPPDATA%\GalShelf\packs\installed\<id>\<version>. Leftovers from an interrupted install are cleaned up at the next start.
If anything fails, nothing changes and the previous state stays active.
Signatures#
Pack signatures are shown but not verified yet: there are no trusted publisher keys. The list says "Unsigned (from a local file)", "Signed, but the signature cannot be checked" or "Signature not verified by a trusted publisher". Install packs only from sources you trust.
No code in packs#
Packs contain assets and presets, never programs or scripts, so a pack can't run code on your computer.
Roll back, remove, reinstall#
- 回到上一个版本 / Return to the previous version switches back to the last working version that was kept.
- 移除资源包 / Remove pack deletes every installed version of that pack. It is refused while another installed pack depends on it.
- To reinstall, install the file again.
- Removing a pack returns affected screens to the built-in material. Your library and settings are not changed.
Offline#
Installing and using packs works offline, because packs are installed from local files.
